In 2009, new laws, new technology and a major economic recession combined to create an entirely new landscape for labor lawyers. Veteran labor lawyer Debbie Durban discusses the most crucial of these new developments in labor law, including new and pending legislation at both the state and national level, and new technology and social media trends impacting the workplace.

You'll come away from this seminar with a clear understanding of the Fair Pay Restoration Act (or Lilly Ledbetter Act), the labor law provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act (GINA). You'll also learn about new amendments to the ADA, new FMLA regulations, and other administrative changes. You'll also learn about the increasingly prevalent role of social media in American life, and how this trend is affecting labor law and the workplace. Specifically, Ms. Durban will discuss YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and other social networking sites, considering whether employers can legally use these sites to obtain personal information about employees and job candidates. You'll benefit from an in-depth discussion of how social media trends pertain to equal opportunity employment, privacy concerns, and other state and national legislation.

Don't miss this chance to get up to speed on the latest employment and labor law, and to take a fascinating look at the future of this practice area.
