NOTE: The Pennsylvania CLE Board does not permit credit for courses of less than one hour. We offer this short course free as a service to lawyers who need the information.

Our instructors discuss recent judicial decisions by Pennsylvania state and federal courts addressing the following liability topics:
  • Liability of a county child welfare agency and its employees to families for conduct that occurs during the investigation of an abuse allegation or activities that occur prior to any court involvement;
  • Liability of a county agency and its employees for injuries to a child who remains in the parent’s care, but is known to and/or receiving services from the agency;• Liability of a county or private child welfare agency and its employees for injuries to children in foster care; and
  • Liability of foster parents for injuries to foster children in their care.
This course was recorded in April 2011 at PBI`s day-long seminar, "Current Issues for Child Advocates 2011". This annual seminar is your one-stop-shop for a complete summary of all significant case law and legislative developments, exposure to up and coming trends, and learning play by play strategies for best representing your juvenile clients. Other sessions from the seminar are available on PBI`s Online Campus.
