Our instructor discusses new procedural rules implemented by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and current rules that have been amended. Subject areas include dismissing frivolous litigation, pretrial and settlement conferences, and exemptions from levy and attachment. He also covers several recent appellate court decisions addressing discovery of communications between a testifying expert and counsel, psychologist-patient privilege, reconsideration of summary judgment orders, reconsideration of class certification, and the strict requirements for complete consolidation of matters. Finally, our panelist alerts you to some proposed amendments to the rules governing trials by jury, discovery of electronically stored information, and discovery of expert testimony.
This course was recorded in March 2011 during PBI’s 24th Annual Civil Litigation Update. The Civil Litigation Update covers every major area of personal injury practice in a refreshingly informal but informational style. Other sessions on motor vehicle law, products liability, professional malpractice, ethical issues in a litigation practice and evidence are available at PBI’s Online Campus.
