All of the credits offered by this course count toward the CLE requirements of Criminal Procedure Rule 801, for appointment as defense counsel in a capital case.
the CLE Board indicates that you can earn all 18 of your capital case credits by distance education. However, for the general Pennsylvania CLE requirement of 12 credits per compliance year, only 4 can be earned by distance education each year. This means that while this course offers more than four capital case credits, at most only 4 credits will count toward your general CLE requirement. (It could be fewer than 4 if you take other distance education courses in the same compliance year.)
This course focuses on advanced issues in capital cases. The faculty is composed of judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. Examine ethical issues in capital cases concerning tough witnesses, cooperating witnesses and reluctant witnesses. This course was originally presented in October 2007 at a program entitled Capital Cases: Tough Witnesses, Cooperating Witnesses ("Snitches"), and Reluctant Witnesses. Other courses from this program are available for purchase at PBI`s online catalog.

"Online Courses are Appreciated." (Aliquippa, PA)
"Wonderful analogy presented to show how prosecutors shape evidence by manipulation of testimony hiding truth from juries and judges. This lecture gave me important ideas to use immediately for pretrial motions related to Brady /discovery violations, dismissals and cross-examination pertaining to not only drugs cases dealing with a snitch, but any witness interviewed by any prosecutor in any case. Thanks so much." (Coraopolis, PA)
"Very useful and thoughtful." (Camp Hill, PA)
