We all know how important intellectual intelligence is to the practice of law. Just as important, however, is "emotional intelligence," the ability to use one`s emotions intelligently to relate to other people. Using a series of vignettes, our panelists illustrate how healthy emotional intelligence is the foundation of effective, ethical lawyering. Specific topics include the boundaries of zealous representation; dealing with an overzealous opponent; pre-trial discovery abuses; the need for truthfulness among lawyers; and transactional professionalism.
