Pennsylvania`s Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act took effect in July 2009. The law aims to protect consumers by requiring residential home improvement contractors to register with the Attorney General`s office and provide customers with written contracts in most cases. Our instructor explains the important provisions of this new law, including registration requirements, terms that must be included in a contract, voidable contract provisions, and criminal and civil violations. She also offers tips for contractors to comply with this important new law.

This course was recorded at PBI`s "A Day on Real Estate," cosponsored with the PBA Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section. Geared for experienced real estate attorneys, A Day on Real Estate offers six one-hour sessions on a variety of timely real estate topics. Check out other sessions from this program at PBI`s Online Campus.
