Item Description Back to top
The recent revelations that two Luzerne County Judges allegedly received unlawful payments for placing juvenile offenders in detention facilities have shocked the conscience of the Pennsylvania legal community. While judicial misconduct is not unheard of elsewhere in the Commonwealth, the breadth of the judicial corruption scandal in Luzerne County and the deprivation of due process for numerous juveniles in the court system have shaken our judicial system to its core and undermined the public’s confidence in our ability to police our own.  Join our excellent faculty as they highlight what happened in Luzerne County, review the  governing Rules of Professional Conduct, Code of Judicial Conduct and focus on the legal rights violated, available remedies when faced with a miscarriage of justice and what reforms can be implemented to avoid similar problems in the future.

Recorded during a live webcast in June 2010.
