Our instructor explores a number of ways you can help your clients avoid mortgage foreclosure. She explains how to qualify and apply for relief under state programs like the Homeowner`s Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (HEMAP) and the Emergency Homeowner`s Loan Program (EHLP), and federal programs like the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), Second Lien Modification Program (2MP) and Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP). She also discusses county foreclosure diversion programs, negotiation of modification or repayment agreements with the lender, and, if litigation is necessary, some common defenses you can employ.
This course was recorded in March 2011 at the Pennsylvania Bar Association`s Pro Bono Seminar, "Reaching Out to the Neediest Among Us," a statewide conference aimed at educating attorneys on ways to answer the call to public service.
