Even during prosperous times, employment termination means unemployment compensation claims. In today`s tough economic times the stakes are even higher. Liability on a claim is costly to an employer. The welfare of workers and their families is at stake when a claim is contested.
Our all-star panel includes attorneys from the Department of Labor of Industry, members of the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, and the President Judge of the Commonwealth Court. Join them as they explain all of the issues involved in an unemployment compensation case, and offer practical tips for claimant`s and employer`s counsel alike.
Specific topics include basic unemployment compensation practice and procedure, including evidentiary rules; federal extension benefits; discharges due to willful misconduct; voluntary quits, including those caused by health and family issues; the "able and available for work" standard; self employment/independent contractors; relief from charges; overpayments; and effective appellate advocacy.
