Every lawyer is pledged to uphold the honor of our profession. Each of us tries to do this every day. When Kenneth Feinberg was appointed as the Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, he had to ask himself just what that obligation means in practice. His first decision was to accept no compensation for the post. His next was how to value the lives lost. In the ensuing months, he heard stories reflecting all that is most heroic and some that is venal in human natureÑand he had to find the patience and courage to listen to these stories every day. Listen to his own story and consider how you would respond if you were called to serve in a uniquely difficult situation. This session qualifies for one credit in ethics and professionalism.
