This brand-new program examines the environmental issues impacting oil and gas development in Pennsylvania. As the Marcellus Shale region continues to produce valuable natural gas resources, concerns have arisen about whether the drilling and hydraulic fracturing processes used to recover the resource will impact the surrounding land and waters.
Our stellar faculty will examine the regulations intended to avoid environmental impacts and provide an in-depth discussion on various issues of concern including: controls on surface water withdrawals and discharges, regulation of hydraulic fracturing, regulation of air emissions from collection and processing facilities, lease provisions and newly enacted and proposed provisions addressing these issues. Our panel will also examine the cumulative effects of exploration and drilling and issues relating to the leasing of state lands.
Recorded during a live webcast in March 2011.
