A smart energy grid enables smart consumption, but there are a host of requirements that must be met before physically integrating renewables into the power grid. Our instructors explore the different scenarios, processes and standards you might encounter depending on the size and type of a project. They examine the regulatory framework for getting a system integrated with the grid in order to take advantage of net metering and other benefits now available to customers and developers. Counsel for PJM, a regional transmission organization, discusses interconnections as they relate to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Finally, hear a practitioner`s take on some of the complex legal issues surrounding renewable projects, including the key legal documents that are necessary to connect a project to the grid.
This course was recorded at Power Law 2010: The New & Evolving Energy Landscape, a forum for professionals working on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and advanced energy technology projects. Other sessions from Power Law 2010 are available on PBI`s Online Campus.
