The recent discovery that the Marcellus Shale formation is actually a high yield “super giant” gas field has led to explosive development of natural gas resources in Pennsylvania. Our panelists analyze the environmental issues surrounding the development and production of natural gas; the federal and state laws and regulations at play; the authority and regulatory approach of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission; and the role of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission in regulating important peripheral industries, such as pipeline construction and development.
