Federal income tax exemption may be the most valuable characteristic of nonprofit status. But nonprofit organizations are not necessarily tax-exempt. They must generally file Form 1023 with the IRS to obtain recognition of tax-exempt status (and to permit donors to deduct their contributions). In this hour, our instructors provide a detailed description of the qualification requirements for 501(c)(3) organizations and the best practices for completing Form 1023.
This course was recorded at PBI`s 7th Annual Nonprofit Institute in May 2009. Other courses from this Institute are available at PBI`s Online Campus.
