What are the recommended/minimum system requirements for viewing online seminars? |

Recommended System Requirements:
- Windows: a PC running Windows 2000+, with Internet Explorer 6.0+, and Windows Media Player 10+. If Windows Media Player is not an option for this seminar, then we recommend Real Player 10+.
- Mac: a Mac running OS X (10.3+). For Online CLE programs, we recommend using Safari and RealPlayer (installation instructions here). For live webcasts, we recommend the Safari browser and the latest version of the Flip4Mac WMV plugin for Quicktime (v2.2) (installation instructions here). Please note that Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X no longer seems to be compatible with our systems for live webcasts.

How do I log into my account and start my seminar? |

- Log in to your User Account by Clicking on the
- Put your email address and password in under [Returning Customer], then click on the [Log on] button.
- Make sure you are in the [My Account] tab

- Next, click on the
button under the title.
- Click on the link titled [Click Here to Continue on to Seminar] at the top of the page until you arrive at a window that displays the media player stream speeds and segments. (Segments will not show up in a live webcast)
- If you are having trouble getting past the Systems Analysis Page, then, Click Here to disable it.
- Select your stream type and speed in the upper left hand corner, and then, the seminar will either start at the beginning or at the time that you left off.

How do I restart the seminar if I stop it or get disconnected? |

- Make sure you are in the [My Account] tab.
- Next, click on the
button under the title.

- If the seminar starts from the beginning, but you know that you have already watched some, check to see if the [Segments] are hyperlinked. If they are, click on the last one to begin viewing at that time mark.
- If the Segments are not hyperlinked near the point where you left off your seminar, the problem could be with your Temporary Internet Files. (Click Here for the FAQ on clearing your Temporary Internet Files)
Note: We use Microsoft ActiveX Controls to Trip the Segments and track Time throughout the seminar. In order for session to track properly, we recommend that you use a browser with ActiveX enabled, like Internet Explorer. You can use other browsers (Netscape, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.), to view the seminar, but we cannot guaranty that the seminar will track properly.

I am getting an error referencing a "codec". |

If you are getting an message/error similar to "You do not have the required codec to view this stream" or "Error Downloading CODEC." Please download the acelp_net.exe file attached to this answer. It will prompt you to either save the file or run it. Select [Run], the install will only take a few moments and no reboot is required.

I am working in a virtual environment (e.g. CITRIX) and do not hear any sound on my seminar. |

Due to settings in CITRIX, the audio in our seminars will not play if launched within the CITRIX environment or if you are using Terminal Services.
In order to watch a seminar, you will need to log into your account through a browser outside of the CITRIX environment (i.e. one that is installed directly on your computer) and relaunch the seminar from your My Account page. |

I just finished watching an online seminar, but I get an error saying that I have not completed all the segments. |

The technology that we currently use to track the time that you are in a seminar is called ActiveX. ActiveX Controls are primarily used in the Internet Explorer web browser, this is why our platform is specifically supported on Internet Explorer.
We do understand that not everyone uses Internet Explorer and use a diferent browser (i.g. Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Etc.). We have implemented alternative methods for tracking seminars (Secondary Tracking) on these other browsers. Although these alternative methods ARE NOT 100% foolproof, we have tested them to the best that we can.
All that said, if you have listened to a seminar in full, and cannot access your certificate, there are a couple of things that you can try. - Wait 10 minutes and try to access the certificate again.
- Clear your "Temporary Internet Files" and try again.
- If the above two methods to not work then you will need to send us a "Support Request", or call us at 877.880.1335 (BankerEd - 888.262.7701)

I'm getting an 'Invalid socket error' when I try to launch a seminar on my Mac using RealPlayer. |

In order to correct the issue that is causing the 'invalid socket error' message to appear when using RealPlayer on a Mac, please do the following:
1. Go to your Applications folder (Double-click on Macintosh HD, then double-click on Applications)
2. Double-click on the RealPlayer icon to launch RealPlayer
3. After RealPlayer has launched, click on RealPlayer on the top menu bar and a menu should drop down
4. Click on Preferences on the drop down menu. The Preferences window will open.
5. Click on the Transport icon (it will be the second-to-last icon)
6. Check the box beside "Use manually configured RTSP and PNA transport Settings"
7. Click the Configure button.
8. Click the "Use HTTP Only" button
9. Click the OK button
10. Close the Preferences
11. Quit RealPlayer (Click on RealPlayer on the menu bar, then Quit RealPlayer) |

What is an online seminar? |

Viewed over the internet as streaming media, Online Seminars are the ideal way to obtain your CLE credits without leaving the comfort of your office or home. Once you purchase an Online Seminar, you may access it immediately or log back into your CLE account at a later time to complete. Seminar materials are stored in your account (in PDF format) and can be saved to your computer or printed. In order to receive credit for an Online Seminar, simply click on the [Launch Seminar] button in your account and watch/listen to the seminar. While you are watching the seminar, you will sometimes be prompted in 10 to 15 minute intervals with a box asking whether or not you would like to continue or not. This insures compliance, and it will, also, stop the seminar and replay the last segment if the promt is not answered within 3 minutes. When the program is complete, click on the red [Certificate of Completion] button associated with the program to receive your certificate. * Note: Rules may differ depending on the state that you are registering in. |

Why does my video stop every 10-15 minutes and go back? |

Some courses require a confirmation response to verify attendance. Every 10-15 minutes a window will pop up and ask if you are there and still watching. If there is no response after one minute then the course stops. When you click on play again it will go back to the last confirmed segment.
If you were watching the course and didnt see the window you most likely have a popup blocker running on your system that is preventing the user confirmation window from coming up.
You will need to either temporarily disable the pop-up blocker or add our site to your exceptions list. |

LegalSpan Inc. provides Online CE (Podcast - MP3) for several states. Some states will allow you to apply credits for Online CE (Podcast - MP3) taken in another state.
A list of specific states that allow this is not available at this time. If you have taken an Online CE (Podcast - MP3) in one state and wish to receive credit in another state, you will need to contact that state's BAR Association.
If you have not taken the online CE (Podcast - MP3) that you wish to be applied to another state(s), we suggest that you review the course catalog for your "primary" state, document any online CE (Podcast - MP3) that you wish to take, and then, contact the other state(s) BAR Association to see if they will allow the credits to be applied to their specific state.

- Email address MUST be unique.

If you need accounts created immediately, you need to add accounts one at a time using a unique email address for each person you are to manage.
It is very important that after you create an account and are getting ready to create another account, that you click on the [Log Off] button located in the top right hand portion of your screen. If you do not log off and try to create an account for somebody else, you may get the following error message: "You are attempting to add a course to your cart that is either already in your cart or one that you have previously purchased."
There are 2 very important items to note:
- Each email used must be unique
- Our system will not let the same customer purchase the same item twice. If you are getting the error message listed above, try clicking on the [Log Off] button and log back in as the correct person.

Cause(s):
This can be caused by a number of things... Your computer's speakers could be...
Incorrectly plugged in (in the wrong jack).
Not plugged into a power source.
The volume knob might be turned down.
The power button on your speakers could be turned off.
A mute setting could be selected.
A volume control bar could be turned down.
There could be a problem with the 'soundcard'.
A missing Codec.
Solution(s):

I completed an online course but my credits have not been reported. |

After you have completed watching an online CE (Podcast - MP3), it is important that you obtain your [Certificate of Completion].
To do this, login to your account, and click on [My Account]. Depending on what state affiliation you are with, you will either see a [Certificate of Completion] button or a [Certificate] link. Click on the button or link, and your certificate should open up. Some will have the option to obtain a printable copy, others will have the option to submit the certificate for credit.
Once you do this, it will automatically be reported to your affiliate. It can take them up to a month to update their records and submit this to the Supreme Court. |

I have a G4 Macintosh computer running Windows Media Player and Real Player, both of which are working fine. Can I view these online seminars with my system? |
A.

We do not specifically support the MAC OS but do have quite a few customers using MAC so we try to help out as much as possible. We try to determine what is causing a specific problem and try to help get the issue resolved but can only do so within a limited scope. The MAC OS X system (which seems to be what the majority of people are running) has Internet Explorer 5.2 and Windows Media Player 9.0 installed. The problem is that there isnt a codec (an algorithm that codes and decodes media streams) available for Media Player that will allow you to hear seminars, you can only see them. Some of our affiliates offer RealPlayer streams but not all of them and some seminars (especially the Live Casts) come only in Media Player streams. That aside, we have had success running seminars on both MAC OS 9 and OS X operation systems:
- In MAC OS 9 we are using Windows Internet Explorer 5 and Windows Media Player 7 (Real Player does not work),
- In MAC OS X we are using Windows Internet Explorer 5.2, Windows Media Player 9, and RealPlayer 10 (Sometimes Windows Media Player 9 will not have the correct audio codec for the seminar to work).
If you are running MAC OS X, with Windows Media Player 9, and you get an error regarding a missing codec then...
Revert to the OS 9 Classic Environment, which uses Windows Media Player 7, and Internet Explorer 5.
Note: If you are using OS X.3 you might have to install the OS 9 classic environment from the installation disk, if you have X.4 then the classic environment is not included. If this is the case, and we cannot get it to work with RealPlayer, then a refund will probably need to be issued.
To run seminars in the MAC Classic Environment do the following: Note: When OS X installed it made a folder called [Applications (MAC OS 9)] and when you click on an application in that folder it will launch the classic environment (I think this is Apples way of making their software backward compatible).
- Open the hard drive on the desktop
- Click on the [Application (MAC OS 9)] folder
- Click on the [Internet Explorer 5] folder
- Click on the [Internet Explorer] icon
This will open IE in the OS 9 environment and it should let you run the media streams. The only caution here is that it is using Media Player 7.1, not 9.0 so there might be some that will not play. If you are still having problems call us at 877.880.1335

My Internet security setting will not let a new codec be installed. |

The definition of a codec is a compressor/decompressor algorithm that allows data to be compressed on one computer and then, decompressed on another computer. When Internet Explorer is first installed, the default security setting does not allow for the downloading of unsigned ActiveX controls. This means that if the codec does not have a signed security certificate, Internet Explorer will not download it. To set your security in Internet Explorer so that it will prompt you when it receives a request to load an unsigned ActiveX control, follow the Guide below:

After you have changed the setting on the guide above do the following:
Navigate to your account at Legalspan, make sure you are in the [My Account] tab.
Click on the Play Seminar link for the Seminar that you want to play.
Click on the [Continue on to Seminar] link at the top or bottom of the page.
Click on the video/audio stream type and speed you want
Any warning boxes that come up, click [Yes].
Note: You can go back and set your security setting so that it will not download or prompt you to download unsigned ActiveX controls. If you leave the setting at prompt and you get a message to download an unsigned control, make sure you know who it is from before accepting it. |

The media player plug-in used in the browser is not compatible with the media player itself so they do not communicate correctly. This situation usually occurs when a software image is loaded on the computer. To check if this is the problem:

Below the first version number is the plug-in, and the second is the media player.
Version 6.4 will work with Version 6.4

What is Multi-User Registration? |

If you would like to register multiple people for one seminar, you may do so by clicking on the Click to Add Multiple Users link. This link will provide you with a drop down menu, where you may select the desired quantity of that particular seminar. Once your order has been processed, you will be prompted to transfer the seminar(s) to other users. You also have the option of assigning one of the purchased seminars to yourself. |

When I click on the "Launch Seminar" button, nothing happens. What should I do? |

Popup Blockers:
If you use a Popup Blocker, such as Ad Subtract, STOPzilla, Stop-the-Pop, or one of the many others on the market, you will need to disable it in order to view our seminars. These utilities prevent the Javascript "window open" command from running which prevents our viewer from opening.

Some ways of getting around a pop-up blocker are to hold down the [Shift] key, while pressing the [Launch Seminar] button or Right-clicking the [Launch Seminar] link and clicking [Open In New Window].

For a quick way to cycle through all the programs that are open in you system. Hold down the [Alt] key while tapping the [Tab] key. When you let go of the [Alt] key, the program that is selected will then come to the front. |

When I try to open the materials it does one of the following:
- nothing
- gives an error
- the document appears garbled. |

Cause(s)
- Sometimes Adobe Reader cannot display a document that is being sourced over the internet. This usually indicates that you have an older version of Adobe Acrobat Reader that cannot handle PDF documents created with a newer version of Acrobat Reader.
- When you click on a link to the materials, and nothing happens, this could be a sign that a pop-up blocker of some sort that is blocking the link from being opened.
- If you get an error when you click on the link to the materials telling you that there is currently no program available to open this type of media, you probably do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system, or Adobe Acrobat Reader is not recognizing the PDF file type.
Solution(s)
- Try right-clicking on the document link and select "Save Target As..." to save the document to your computer and then open it from place you saved it to. Note: Make a note of where you save the document to, we suggest saving it to your Desktop for easier retrieval.
- Check in the Add/Remove Programs module in Control Panel and see what version of Adobe Reader you have and to see if there is more than one version listed.
- Click on the [START] button on the Task Bar and select [Control Panel].
- Click on the [Add/Remove Programs] in the Control Panel.
- Check for both Adobe Reader and Acrobat Reader in the list.
- If the version number is earlier than 5 or there are more than one listed: [Remove] all of them.
- Go to www.adobe.com and download Adobe Reader 7.0.5. Note: If you do not want the extra downloads make sure to uncheck the boxes under [Also Download:] before downloading.
- Install Adobe Reader and try opening the document again.

Why is the seminar blurry? |

Cause(s)
There are a couple of different causes as to why the seminar would be blurry.
Solution(s)
- The quality of the seminar is relative to the speed of your modem. If you are using a 56k modem to access the seminar, your connection speed may be too slow to get a high-quality video stream; therefore, the seminar may appear blurry or be delivered like a filmstrip instead of a movie.
- The problem may lie with your video-player settings. In the settings for the RealOne Player or Windows Media Player, please be sure you have selected the proper modem speed. There are fields for minimum and maximum speeds which, if incorrectly set, will limit the amount of bandwidth the incoming video stream can use.
Note: To accommodate all internet connnections, we usually provide the stream with two different resolutions. We provide one for dial-up connections (56k modem or lower), and another for "High Speed" connections (DSL, cable modem, etc.). Like with any common picture of a certain resolution, the larger you expand the image the more blurry and distorted the image will get. The high speed option takes up more internet bandwidth, therefore, making the quality of the image better. Due to pixel limitations of the seminars, the image might become blurry and out of focus the larger you make the image. |

Windows Media Player buffers in the middle of a video and/or the video seems really choppy. |

Cause(s)
Running the Seminar in the High-Speed option, using a Dial-up connection.
If there is a lot of internet traffic in the office you are watching it from, the seminar will slow down.
Sometime a Wireless Internet Connection can slow the video stream down, causing the video to be choppy and buffer.
The buffer size that Windows Media Player is set to is too low.
If Windows Media Player/Real Player you are using, protocols other than HTTP Solution(s)

- If you are on a Dial-Up connection, the recommended speed is [Normal Speed] (or [Audio Only] for even slower connections); [High-Speed] is meant for DSL/Cable/T1 connections.
- Also, Windows media codecs are optimized for Pentium III and run fine on Pentium II, but on a Pentium Processor or lower, they choke completely. Older hardware (Processors earlier the Pentium II), Operating System (earlier the Window 98SE), Older browsers (Netscape earlier the Version 3 and Internet Explorer before Version 3), or inadequate system resources (Memory, Video Memory, etc.) can cause problems viewing seminars.

How can I test my system? |

Once you have registered for a webcast, if you click on the green Launch Seminar button prior to the day of the webcast, a window will open that will say This live webcast is not yet active. On that page will be a link to View a test webcast click on that link and choose a stream speed appropriate to your Internet connection. A video should start playing if you are able to see and hear the test webcast, you should be all set for the live webcast. |

How do I register for a Webcast? |

a. Click on the Webcasts tab on the gray menu bar.
b. Find the webcast you wish to register for on the Click on the More Information or Buy Now button for item details or to purchase.
c. Shopping Cart: The item will be added to your shopping cart. To add another item to your shopping cart, click the "Continue Shopping" button to return to the Catalog page. You can add as many items to your shopping cart as desired. The cart provides a running total as you add additional items.
d. Secure Checkout: When you are finished adding items to your cart, select a payment option from the drop-list and then click the "Secure Checkout" button. Your information is encrypted and secured, as indicated by the padlock at the bottom of your browser window. You will be presented with Step 1 of the checkout process, verifying your account information. If you have previously created an account, follow the instructions towards the top of this page to log in. Otherwise, fill in all required fields with the information you wish to be associated with your new account.
e. Order Fulfillment: Once your payment is authenticated or received, a receipt page appears listing the items purchased, as well as links to Launch Seminar, obtain Program Materials (if available), obtain your Certificate of Completion, and view the Transaction Details. You will also receive an e-mail containing the details of your transaction that can be printed for your records.

How do I get credit? |

In order to receive CLE credit for participating in a webcast, you will need to document your participation during the program.
During the webcast you will be looking for four (4) unique Attendance Verification code letters, each consisting of a single letter that will be broadcast periodically during the program. These four letters form a code that documents your participation in this CLE program.
All four parts of the code will be broadcast several times, at random intervals during a part of the program. When you see an Attendance Verification code letter, jot it down. If you have already copied down a particular letter, you can ignore it when it is repeated.
At the end of the program you will have a four letter code that you will be asked to enter on your computer if you want CLE credit. If you do this and the code is correct, you will be issued a certificate of completion documenting your attendance and CLE credit hours.
PLEASE NOTE: Under Ohio Supreme Court rules, you will be awarded self-study credit for this webcast program.

Do I have to be in my office or can I watch from any computer? |

a. No, you can access a webcast from any computer connected to the Internet. To watch your seminar on the date of the live event, please do the following:
(i) Navigate to http://www.legalspan.com/osba and click on the green (Log In|Sign Up) button on the right side of the gray menu bar. If the (Log In|Sign Up) button is not displayed, click the Log Off link instead (on the right side of the page, just below the gray menu bar) and, after the webpage reloads, click on the green (Log In|Sign Up) button.

a. Check the volume settings there are 3 places youll need to check
i. On your speakers Ensure that your speakers are turned on and that the volume is turned up. Also check to make sure they are properly connected to your computer.
ii. Main system volume in the bottom-right corner of your screen you should see a little speaker icon. Click on that icon and a slider should pop up ensure that it is turned up
iii. On the video player Below the video box, you should see a control bar. On that control bar you will find a speaker icon when you put your cursor over the icon, it should say Mute (this means that it will mute the volume if you click on it). Also, to the right of the speaker icon, there should be a volume bar ensure that the volume is all the way to the right.
b. If you are working in a virtual environment (eg CITRIX, Terminal services), you will need to log into your account and launch the webcast from a browser outside of the virtual environment.

a. Try the following steps to optimize Windows Media Player:
i. Left-click on the video box
ii. Right-click on the video box
iii. On the menu that opens, click on Options. The Options window should open with 3 tabs at the top.
iv. Click on the Network tab.
v. Under the Protocols section at the top, uncheck all of the boxes EXCEPT the box beside HTTP.
vi. Click on the OK button.
vii. Click on the "Change stream speed/type" link below the video.
viii. Choose your stream speed again and the seminar should start
ix. If you have a firewall on the network, it may be blocking the stream. If you/your IT dept open up TCP port 554

When I launch the video, the video box is all green or multi-colored. |

a. The video acceleration setting is interfering with the stream. Do the following to disable video acceleration:
i. Left-click on the green box
ii. Right-click on the green box
iii. On the menu that opens, click on Options
iv. You should be on the Performance tab. At the bottom you should see a slider under "Video Acceleration". Move that slider all the way to the left and then click on OK
v. A warning message will pop up. Click on Yes. The hourglass will appear
vi. The video should automatically reconnect after about 30 seconds and should be cleared up. If the video does not restart automatically, click on the Change stream speed link below the video and choose your stream speed again to reconnect to the seminar.

How do I claim credit for a CLEtoGo\CEtoGo\Podcast Seminar? |

Throughout a CLEtoGo (Podcast - MP3) Seminar, you will hear (4) letter codes. When you are finished, return to your online account, and click on the [Certificate of Completion] button for the CLEtoGo (Podcast - MP3) seminar. Type these letter codes into the window that pops up, and then, click the [Submit for Credit] button. At that point, the system will give you your certificate.
* NOTE: You have NOT completed a CLEtoGO (Podcast - MP3) seminar until you have received your certificate by submitting your four letter codes. These are unique to YOUR copy of the course.

How do I transfer a CLEtoGo\CEtoGo\Podcast to my iPod / MP3 Player? |

iPod Instructions
* NOTE: The iTunes program should have come with your iPod. If you need to install it, you can Download it Here.
- When you plug your iPod into the Computer the iTunes Program will automatically open. If it does not, then, open the program directly.

- Once in iTunes you will need to import the CLEtoGo (Podcast - MP3) file into the iTunes Library. Do this by clicking on [File], then [Add File to Library].

- Navigate to the folder that you saved the CLEtoGo (Podcast - MP3) Seminar to, select the file(s), then click on the [Open] button.

- When you click on [Open], you will be promted to convert the original WMA file into ACC format. Click on [Convert], this is the file format that an iPod plays.

- Once this process is finished, the seminar will show in your library like so...

- The last step is to drag and drop the file into the iPod. This will transfer the song onto the iPod for listening.
MP3 Player
Since there are so many different kinds of MP3 Players, we cannot possibly provide support for all of them.
But, usually every MP3 player will come with software to transfer audio files to the player.

I downloaded my CLEtoGo\CEtoGo\Podcast seminar and now I cant find it. |

- This can happen when you download the seminar and you click on [Open] instead of [Save]. This saves the seminar in a Temporary Folder marked for future deletion. In this case, the quickest way to find the file is to go back to your account and redownload the CLEtoGo, and this time click the [Save] button, to a place of easy retrieval, like the [Desktop], or the [My Documents] folder.
- Another way to find the file is to do a search for the term (CLEtoGo, CEtoGo, or Podcast) by clicking on the [Start] menu, then selecting [Search]. Be sure that it is set to search all the Hard Disk Drives on your computer.

- The confirmation email can get caught in a SPAM filter or tossed into the Junk Mail folder on your system.

- The Dial-in Number/PIN is located in the confirmation email that you will receive after purchase. You can, also, get this information from your account directly below the seminar.
