“I concluded that it was difficult to take part in public life and maintain one’s integrity”- Plato. Corporate counsel, business owners, and corporate board members are facing an array of new challenges and threats. Lawyers are called upon to help pick a safe path through this uncertain landscape. Using recent cases, this seminar explores the facts behind the headlines, provide tools to analyze difficult professional dilemmas, and discuss how attorneys can help businesses develop their “dilemma management” skills. Issues are examined using four ethical tests: what are the consequences to all constituents; what are the rules or laws; what are the motives or intentions, and what message will my behavior send about my character.

"Excellent presentation. Very practical suggestions and more interesting than most ethics CLEs I`ve taken" (Charlotte, NC)
"This was a really good program with an engaging presenter. I could`ve listened to more than an hour." (Tryon, NC)
"I found that this was one of the most helpful and insightful ethics course dealing with real life situations. Additional material provided was excellent and the websites usefule." (Cary, NC)
"The video would not work for the first 15 minutes. I used the live tech support online chat offering to discuss this with a technical representative and this person eventually helped me fix the video. Earlier, when I had tried to call, the tech rep said it was something wrong with my system and told me he couldn't fix it and I would need to talk to my own company tech reps. The online tech rep, however, tracked the problem back to the FAQ's on the NCBA website and helped me download an application that immediately solved the problem. I very much appreciated this." (Cary, NC)
"She's very good and the course was excellent" (Raleigh, NC)
"I will use this again. Lecturer was good." (Naples, FL)

"The speaker was interesting and informative. Her presentation held my attention." (Durham, North Carolina)
"I was pleasantly surprised by this program---very well delivered and the four point test outlined provided an easy to remember framework." (Chapel Hill, NC)
"...gave some decent models." (Wilmington, NC)
"I thought that this presentation was better than most ethics presentations I have attended in connection with other CLEs primarily oriented to other content areas. The presentation of a general theoretical framework for analysing ethical dilemmas was beneficial." (Greensboro, NC)
"Enjoyed the piece about virtues, Aristotle and character!" (Winston-Salem, NC)
"You should get Catherine Anderson to do more presentations for the Bar Association CLE. She's engaging and has relevant things to say." (Raleigh, NC)
"Very good. This is extremely convenient. We should be allowed to do more of this." (Raleigh, NC)
"Thought provoking, and nicely tied to issues that are of real concern to practicing lawyers." (Raleigh, NC)
"The time allotted was too short for building more concrete examples of situational ethics." (Raleigh, NC)
"Good but basic. Would have been more helpful if instructor had dealt with tougher moral dilemmas." (State Road, NC)
"The lecture was too generic and would have benefited from applying our code or ethics rules. This was not that helpful to me, although it was interesting." (Winston Salem, NC)
"This was excellent. Glad I was able to be a part of her seminar!" (Raleigh, NC)
"Great." (Arlington, VA)
