It is perhaps for this reason I found this to be the best CLE course I have ever taken. The speaker was engaging, the talk was interesting (at least to me), and was very insightful.  "This was an excellent presentation of how electronic and DNA evidence can completely exonerate people who are wrongly accused of a crime. The cell phone records, digital pictures with metadata. ATM cameras, secured dorm card readers, credit card receipts, etc. completely destroyed the prosecution`s case. Fascinating!" James (Charlotte, NC)

2008 Real Property Case Law Update (from “Real Property Roller Coaster”, May 2-3, 2008)Back to top
"It is hard to follow when the cases are presented in such a wordy manner, giving too much procedura history (lower court) and calling the parties Plaintiff and Defendant rather than something more clear, such as buyer and seller. Just need a clear statement what the case held, not whether plaintiff or defendant won. I could not follow some of the case narratives." Jefferson (Raleigh, NC)

"This particular seminar (IDS Billing) should be MANDATORY and FREE for all attorneys who accept a certain number of IDS cases. I began taking IDS cases immediately upon becoming a private practitioner (mostly DSS) and my paralegal had been completing all of my fee apps based on the time that I entered - now I see how dangerous that can be and the amount of attention which is required to properly complete the applications and avoid beging audited." Amy (Kitty Hawk, NC)

"Thanks for making this resource available. Sincerely, Roy G. Pettigrew" Roy (Raleigh, NC)
"Like so many people in North Carolina, I followed the Duke Lacrosse case with great interest and the subsequent ethical issues following the attorney general`s declaration of innocence of the young men who were charged was equally fascinating. This seminar did a credible job of laying out an overview of the factors at play in this complex case and I feel that my time has been well spent. The only critique that I have has to do with the slides. Although I selected synchronized, there were times when multiple slides seemed to become glued together and I could not view any one slide clearly." Sheria (Raleigh, NC)
"I kept waiting for the discussion of the ethical implications -- and the speaker never really delivered. I took this course to get ethics credit hours, but there was no discussion of attorney ethics, the focus was more on the moral implications or how "the system" almost went drastically wrong. I think a more careful analysis of what caused the DA to lose sight of his professional responsibility and a discussion of the ethical implications for defense lawyers would have taken the course to a higher learning level. BUt I doubt that such an analysis could be provided by attorneys so closely connected to the case." Nonna (Durham, NC)

"Good to hear a defense lawyer`s perspective. The entire experience of finding the course, purchasing it, and being able to view at my convenience made it so easy to get that last 1 hr of CLE. It saved me 5 hours of driving time to Raleigh scheduled for tomorrow. Note on subject matter: I find it discouraging to hear this AG`s office praised so highly in this matter in light of the AG`s having handled the original Gell/Gale? case in such a poor, cavalier manner. Their behavior had truly devastating consequences, and the Bar fell far short in prosecuting those lawyers. Nifong`s behavior was different in that it was intentional, but no prosecutor should be able to "get away with murder" because they didn`t read all the evidence or understand their obligations under Brady, etc." Alexis (Whiteville, NC)

It`s great for situations like mine, where i needed to squeeze in 1 more hour for the year in a specific area--Ethics--and didn`t want to attend a full day seminar just to get it, despite the fact that the hours would carry over. This option should be expanded to cover more hours!!!! Why it isn`t doesn`t make sense. I mean, if cyber CLE is good enough for 4 hours each year, then why not all 12? Does this stem from some remaining skepticism towards computers? In any case, the course was excellent." Richard (Lewisville, NC)

"I live in Western North Carolina and must travel a bit to attend live, or even video-replay, CLE seminars. Also, toward the end of the year, inclement weather becomes a factor. I can take online CLE courses on my schedule, from home or the office, and I can replay the parts I really want to absorb for future reference. The materials which go with the courses are easy to download, too. The CLE rules should be amended to let us take more than 4 hours of online courses; maybe even all 12 hours.
