Note on subject matter: I find it discouraging to hear this AG`s office praised so highly in this matter in light of the AG`s having handled the original Gell/Gale? case in such a poor, cavalier manner. Their behavior had truly devastating consequences, and the Bar fell far short in prosecuting those lawyers. Nifong`s behavior was different in that it was intentional, but no prosecutor should be able to "get away with murder" because they didn`t read all the evidence or understand their obligations under Brady, etc." (Whiteville, NC) |

 | "I kept waiting for the discussion of the ethical implications -- and the speaker never really delivered. I took this course to get ethics credit hours, but there was no discussion of attorney ethics, the focus was more on the moral implications or how "the system" almost went drastically wrong.
I think a more careful analysis of what caused the DA to lose sight of his professional responsibility and a discussion of the ethical implications for defense lawyers would have taken the course to a higher learning level.
