Summary:

 

The purpose of this program is to provide a general overview of the North Carolina law of advance directives (current as of the program date) and to provide the practitioner entering the elder law specialty (or perhaps dabbling in the area) a basic understanding of some of the considerations that should under gird any client consultation with respect to advance directives. Topics include: authorized treatment / right to refuse, directed treatment after incapacity, surrogate decision making and legal theories of enforcement.
