Online Seminar Questions
How do I know when a seminar has been purchased?
The Legalspan system automatically sends a representative you specify an email
notification when a seminar is purchased. In addition, each Legalspan affiliate
is given access to a secure administrative web site where the details of all
transactions can be seen and printed.
How do I know when the user has completed the seminar?
At your option, Legalspan can provide a certificate of completion which is forwarded
to both the user viewing the program and a representative you specify. This certificate
is emailed to you and the user.
How long can a user access a seminar after a purchase?
Affiliates have the ability to set the time a seminar is accessible. Thus, the
user is able to re-access a seminar for the period of time you specify in the
administrative area. Users can re-access a seminar by logging back into their
account using the Log On button at the top of every page.
Can I host the seminars on my web site?
Because of the complex infrastructure associated with our online seminar
system, it is not possible for you to actually host the seminars on your web
site. However, we give the appearance that the seminars are being hosted on
your web site by creating "pass-through" pages which look exactly like your web
site. These pages contain all the code and scripts that allow the seminar
system to work. This also allows you to retain control of your users because
you do not send them to another web site to obtain their online CLE.
How much does it cost?
Legalspan will provide you with a complete online CLE and seminar
registration package for a small setup fee and a revenue share on actual
sales. If you have any questions about our services or would like us to submit
a proposal, please contact us or submit an online request.
What do I need to send you to have a seminar re-purposed for online use?
Simply send Legalspan your video-taped seminar complete with presentation
slides and handout materials. We perform the encoding, synchronize your slides
and handouts and place the broadcast up on your customized link-through page on
our site.
How long does it take to get my content up?
We will have your online seminar up and available for purchase within 2 weeks of
receipt of the seminar materials.
I am having technical issues viewing a seminar. What should I do?
Check the following items for resolution to common problems encountered when
viewing presentations.
- Extensive Buffering: Buffering can be caused by many factors. As a first
step, try
adjusting the speed of the video stream or choosing an audio-only stream.
If you are using a dial-up modem, you will probably be limited to the audio-only
stream. If you still experience buffering, even with an audio-only stream,
there are basically 3 areas into which you should look:
1. Time online. Log off your Internet connection, log back in and try the
seminar again. After you have been connected to your Internet Service Provider
for a substantial amount of time (more than an hour) your priority is lowered.
This means that your requests get answered by the Internet Service Provider
after requests by other users who logged on after you did. By logging out and
back in again you can raise your priority.
2. Weather. If you are experiencing bad weather this can cause your connection
to be sluggish.
3. Peak Usage. If you try to access the seminar during peak bandwidth times for your
Internet Service Provider you may experience buffering. Try accessing the seminar
at a different time of the day.
- Minimum System Requirements: The minimum requirements for viewing
this seminar can be found below.
Browser Requirements: You will need an up-to-date version of the
Internet browser of your choice; however, we suggest you download Microsoft Internet
Explorer for the best user experience with our system. We have provided links to download the browser
of your choice below.
Media Requirements: You will need Windows Media Player version
6.4 or later. You can download the latest version of Windows Media Player below.
What are the system requirements?
- Windows 95/98/NT/XP
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2 or
higher (recommended)
- Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher (recommended)
- RealPlayer (not always available)
- JavaScript and Cookies enabled.
- Intel/AMD PC with 16 MB RAM or higher (32 MB
recommended)
- 800x600 display mode @ 256 colors (1024x768 display,
16-bit high color recommended)
- Sound card, speakers and/or headphones required to hear audio.
How do I obtain credit for viewing a seminar?
In most instances, credit is awarded based on two factors. Immediately after
you purchase the seminar, an email is sent to the appropriate authority in your
state. This email is logged by that authority when it is received. At the end
of every month, the authority will compare the email log to the seminar reports
produced from the web site. The amount of time you view each seminar is
detailed in the reports. If you viewed the entire seminar you are given
credit.
If a test is required to obtain credit for this
seminar, credit is awarded after the test is successfully passed.
How do I receive a certificate of completion?
If the seminar you are viewing is certified for continuing education credit, you
can click on the "Certificate" tab to obtain your certificate. Please note: If you have not
completed the seminar, you will receive instructions on what more is required
before you can obtain your certificate.
How do I obtain the seminar's hand-out materials?
If the seminar you are viewing has attached materials, you may access these
materials by clicking on the "Materials" tab on the viewer's
navigation bar. Clicking on this tab will display the materials for the
seminar. We recommend printing the materials prior to starting the seminar
to avoid pauses in the Internet video. If you wish to save a copy of the PDF
file, you can press the save button at the top of the PDF viewer screen.

Most seminar materials are in PDF format. If you need to obtain the PDF viewer,
click the icon below for a free download.
How do I view the presentation slides?
If the seminar you are viewing has presentation slides, you will see the
"Slides" tab on the viewer's navigation bar. If you have moved off the
slide screen (if you are viewing this document you have moved off the slide
screen), you can return to the presentation slides by clicking the
"Slides" tab.
You can advance through the slides or move back
through previously viewed slides by clicking the left and right arrow icons.
You will then be given a button underneath the active slide that allows you to
re-synchronize the slides with the presentation.
I am having buffering issues. How do I change the video stream to a lower speed?
The stream speed of the video can be changed by clicking the "Media Options"
tab, directly underneath the video. Next, you can select the desired speed in the
window directly underneath the "Media Options" tab. The video will
be reloaded and play at the selected speed. If you experience substantial buffering
of the video, try the lowest speed (the audio only selection).
Please note: If the directions above are inaccurate, you may be using an older
version of the viewer. For you, the stream speed of the video can be changed
by clicking on the drop-down list below the video.
If you are confident that your Internet connection is not the problem, you will also see
a pull-down menu called "Data Center" after clicking the "Media Options" tab and scrolling down.
Selecting a different data center is similar to choosing another route for your drive home.
What was fast yesterday might not be the same today. Accidents or other uncontrollable variables
are bound to happen once in a while.
How do I pause the presentation?
You can pause the video at any time by clicking the pause button on the video
component (displayed below).

Please note: Image shown above may vary.
How do I adjust the volume?
You can adjust the volume using the volume slider bar on the video component
(displayed below).

Please note: Image shown above may vary.
