ANNETTE T. BURNS has practiced law in Arizona since 1984. She specializes in the practice of family law, and has been a Family Law Specialist certified by the State Bar of Arizona since 1994. She served as a Judge pro tem in Maricopa County Superior Court from 1992-2005. Ms. Burns was a member of the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona from 1994-2007, and was Chairperson of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona in 1999-2000. She is currently a Board Member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), an international organization of family court, legal and mental health professionals, and is also on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Chapter of AFCC and a past President of the Arizona Chapter of AFCC. Ms. Burns has been a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) since 2001. She served on the Arizona Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Procedure in Domestic Relations Cases for the duration of that Committee (July, 2003 through October, 2005), and on the Supreme Court Family Law Rules Review Committee (2005-2007) and is currently a member of the Family Law Practice and Procedure Committee of the State Bar of Arizona. She recently completed co-authorship of the Arizona Family Law Rules Handbook. She lectures frequently for the State Barof Arizona, AFCC, and AAML and right now is very proud that her older daughter is admitted to Georgetown Law for fall semester 2008.
