Sergeant Phil Brailsford, a second year law student at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, is a 17 year veteran of the Mesa Police Department. He has served in various assignments within the Police Department to include SWAT and Special Investigations where his assignments were primarily the surveillance and apprehension of violent offenders. He also served as a school resource officer where he was trained to counter active shooters in confined and populated areas.

Prior to joining the police force, Phil became a member of the United States Army Special Forces. In 2002, Phil was activated and deployed to Eastern Afghanistan where he served as a Senior Weapons Sergeant on a Special Forces A-Team. His team conducted combat operations against Taliban and Al Qaida forces.
