Dr. Robert Powers Western State Hospital Center for Forensic Services, Seattle ROBERT W. POWERS received his B.S. in Psychology from Emory University (1987), his M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1990) and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1993). Dr. Powers worked at Atascadero State Hospital in Atascadero, California (1993-1995), before relocating to Seattle, WA. He worked in private practice between 1995 and 1997; focusing on the evaluation and treatment of sexual offenders. Dr. Powers began working at Western State Hospital in 1997 and since 2000 he has been completing competency and mental state evaluations for the hospital's Community Forensic Evaluation Service. Since 2006 he has been the lead psychologist at Western State Hospital's Northern Regional Office in Seattle, which provides competency and mental state evaluation to the courts in Seattle and the northern counties of Western Washington.
