Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Burns served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971 as a Hospital Corpsman. In 1989, he left his tenured instructor position to become the Vocational Director and served in that position until 1991.Mr. Burns was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1996 following his graduation from Seattle University School of Law in 1995. From 1996 until 2005, Mr. Burns was an associate attorney for Daryl L. Graves in Tacoma, Washington. In 2004, he was chosen by Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association as the “Lawyer referral Service Attorney of the Year.” In June 2006, Mr. Burns opened his own practice – Burns Law Firm. He primarily represents juveniles and adults in criminal defense matters. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem in numerous Municipal and District courts in Pierce and King Counties.
