Hon. Philip S. Hollman retired from the Superior Court in 2003. He is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan Law School. Judge Hollman practiced law briefly in New Hampshire in the early 1960s before joining the Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps. He returned to private law practice in Manchester in 1966 and was appointed to the Superior Court by Governor Sununu on May 1, 1985. In 1994, Judge Hollman was honored by the NH Bar Association with its annual award for "Outstanding Professionalism." Judge Hollman was appointed the first supervisory justice of the marital masters in 1994. He represented the Superior Court on the Judicial Council and served on the New Hampshire Certified Mediation Board. Judge Hollman was one of the first members of the NH Bar's Gender Equality Committee when it was established, and he was an original member of the Task Force on Women in the Bar in 1988. He also served as president of the first chapter of the American Inns of Court in New Hampshire, known as the Daniel Webster chapter. After he retired, the Judge Philip S. Hollman Gender Equality Award was established to honor his efforts to advocate for gender equality in the legal system. Judge Hollman is a member of the NH Superior Court Medical Malpractice Screening Rules Drafting Committee, which developed the current guidelines, procedures and rules to govern medical malpractice screening panels. 9/10 TL
