ERIC T. COOPERSTEIN has recently started a private practice devoted to ethics consulting and representation, a product of his work as a former Senior Assistant Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, where he worked from 1995 to 2001. Eric also served from 2003 to 2007 as a member of the 4th District Ethics Committee and is currently a member of the MSBA Rules of Professional Conduct committee, the Minnesota Supreme Court‘s Advisory Committee to Review the Lawyer Discipline System, and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL). Eric’s other volunteer work includes the HCBA Finance Committee, an HCBA advisory board, and the First Universalist Foundation.Eric recently concluded nearly seven years of work as Assistant Senior Counsel to the court-appointed Monitor of Pigford v. Johanns, a class action race discrimination lawsuit brought by African American farmers against the United States Department of Agriculture. Eric’s experience also includes several years of work as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis, as an associate with Mansfield & Tanick, and teaching legal writing as an adjunct professor for William Mitchell College of Law. A 1990 graduate of the University of Minnesota law school, Eric is a refugee from New York City, where he worked for several years as a commercial loan officer after graduating from Hamilton College in 1985.
