Hon. Keith G. Kautz Judge Eighth Judicial District Court, Torrington Judge Keith G. Kautz received a B.S. with Honors from the University of Wyoming in 1975 and a J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1978. He was admitted to the Wyoming State Bar in 1978. He has been serving as a District Judge for the Eighth Judicial District since 1993 to present. Prior to his judgeship he was a partner with Sawyer, Warren & Kautz in Torrington from 1983 – 1993, an associate with Sawyer & Warren from 1980 – 1983 and an associate with Robert W. Koester from 1978 – 1979. Judge Kautz's professional and public service includes service to the Wyoming Board of Judicial Policy and Administration 2001 – 2003; President, Wyoming District Judges Conference, 1999 – 2000; Wyoming Civil Pattern Jury Instructions Committee, 2001- 2004; Wyoming Legal Aid Services Committee 2005 – present; Wyoming Juvenile Rules Committee 2005 – present; Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics 2007 – present; Commissioner of the National Commission on Uniform State Law 2002 – present; Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association Board 1999 – 2003; Wyoming State Bar Resolution of Fee Dispute Committee 1993 – 1999; and has served as Past President of the Torrington Rotary Club, Southeast Wyoming Mental Health Center and Torrington Community Hospital Foundation. Judge Kautz received the State of Wyoming Judiciary Victim’s Services Award in 1998 and Wyoming State Bar Leadership Awarded in 2006. He directed the People’s Law School in Torrington and is a past Adjunct Instructor for Political Science, Constitutional Law and Ethics. |
