Anne M. Bremner Stafford Frey Cooper, Seattle Anne Bremner has been a trial attorney for 24 years and is a litigation shareholder in the law firm of Stafford Frey Cooper.Ms. Bremner received her B.A. in Medieval History (with Honors) from Stanford University in 1980 and was awarded her J.D. in December, 1982 from Seattle University. She is a former judicial law clerk and was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Criminal Division of the King County Prosecutor's Office specializing in sex crimes from 1983 to 1988. Since entering private practice, she has represented the Seattle Police, Bellevue Police, Tacoma Police, Des Moines Police and other police departments and officers, and also other private and public entities, priests and judges in civil and criminal trials. Ms. Bremner is a member of the American, Washington State and Seattle-King Bar Associations. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, and is a past member of the State Board of Directors (and Director of Media Relations) for Washington Women Lawyers.Ms. Bremner was defense counsel and obtained defense verdicts in Vili Fualaau v. Highline School District and the Des Moines Police Department (The Mary Kay Letourneau case ); in the Robert Thomas Sr./Mel Miller KCSO inquest, the David Walker (SPD); Michael Ealy (SPD); Martinez-Mendez (BPD); and the Nordstrom (Weaver) shooting (BPD) Inquests. She has successfully defended class actions in WTO (the Battle of Seattle) based litigation and for the SPD Police Dogs (a national test case brought by the ACLU). Ms. Bremner defended Pierce County in the Pierce County Jail class action. Ms. Bremner has represented the Attorney General (now Governor) of Washington. Ms. Bremner defended the Olympic Pipeline Company in a $500 Million Dollar explosion BI suit brought by ARCO. Ms. Bremner and her cases have been featured on Dateline NBC, Court TV, MSNBC, the FOX News Channel, Good Morning America, the Today Show and on the E! News Channel. Ms. Bremner is an on-air legal analyst for Northwest Cable News and appears regularly on national TV as a legal analyst for the FOX News Channel, MSNBC, CNN, CNN Headline News with Nancy Grace, CBS, ABC (GMA) and Court TV. Ms. Bremner provides Legal Analysis and acts as a legal consultant for People Magazine, and is regularly consulted by Time Magazine; USA Today, the Associated Press; the Los Angeles Times and the BBC News.Ms. Bremner is a national faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and has been a frequent lecturer for seminars throughout the United States, St. Kitts and in Costa Rica. She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She is AV rated ( preeminent ). She was a semifinalist to be the U.S. Attorney in Washington. Ms. Bremner has been named a Superlawyer (top 5% of lawyers in Washington State) by her peers in 1999 through 2007 and was voted by her peers as one of Seattle s 92 best attorneys in 2001 and one of Seattle s top 115 attorneys in 2003 in Seattle Magazine (this survey is conducted every two years). She was named (again by her peers) as one of the Top Ten Women Superlawyers in Washington State and one of the 25 Smartest People in Washington State in Law & Politics Magazine.Ms. Bremner has been profiled in the BarBulletin; DeNovo Magazine and featured on the cover of the Law and Politics Women in Law issue which profiled her under Headliners and Legends. She was profiled in the 2004 Seattle Weekly Best of Seattle issue and featured in Seattle Magazine’s November 2004 issue as one of “The Power List: The 25 Most Influential People in Seattle” (the sole attorney).Ms. Bremner is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (an invitation-only organization limited to the top 1% of all trial lawyers nationwide) and was selected as the National Representative for all of the inductees to give their formal presentation at the Induction in March, 2003. In 2007 Ms. Bremner was elected by her peers to fellowship in the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers. The International Academy of Trial Lawyers is widely regarded as the most exclusive and trial lawyer group in the world.
