After celebrating his 26th year in the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Zellis left the office to open ZELLIS LAW, LLC. which handles criminal defense cases with an emphasis on defending juveniles with disabilities who are accused of criminal wrong doing. Under the current District Attorney, he served as the Community Outreach Coordinator, Chief District Attorney-in-Charge of the new Bucks County Drug Court and a top trial lawyer in the office. Previously, he served as Bucks County's First Assistant District Attorney for 10 years. During his 26 years with the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, he has convicted murderers, rapists, armed robbers and drug dealers. He has also successfully prosecuted homicide by vehicle cases, corrupt organizations, white-collar crimes, and domestic violence cases. Most recently, he convicted “the church lady”, Mary Jane Fonder for the First Degree Murder of Rhonda Smith in a church in Upper Bucks County. The investigation and the prosecution drew national attention and was the subject of an hour long Dateline NBC as well as the cable television show Solved. Both national television programs featured Mr. Zellis as the lead prosecutor. Throughout his career, he has also actively prosecuted various types of cases within the juvenile justice system while demonstrating compassion for juveniles with disabilities accused of wrong doing. In addition to trying criminal cases, he has served as the Chief of the Bucks County Investigating Grand Jury for 21 years. He has served as the Chairman of the Bucks County Older Adult Task Force, and the Bucks County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Commission. He also established the Bucks County Network against Domestic Abuse. Mr. Zellis has had the honor of testifying before the United States Congress and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. During the past two school years he has partnered with the Bucks County Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) in order to present trainings about bullying and cyber bullying to administrators, faculty and students at the invitation of numerous school districts. He recently was honored to give a presentation on bullying at the National NOVA conference. Mr. Zellis is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Emory University School of Law.
