JAMES L. NELSON graduated from Louisiana State University, School of Law. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association in 1978. He was in private practice for 12 years. In 1990, he joined the U.S. Attorney's Office in Shreveport as an assistant United States attorney. His responsibilities in the Shreveport office include managing the USAO's Financial Litigation Unit. In 1995, he joined the USAO in Baton Rouge as a civil assistant. Mr. Nelson's major responsibilities in the Baton Rouge offices's Civil Division are chief of the Civil Division, AUSA-in-charge of the Financial Litigation Unit, affirmative civil enforcement coordinator, and civil health care fraud coordinator.
