Dr. Ellie Izzo
Vicarious Trauma Institute, Scottsdale
DR. ELLIE IZZO is co-founder and a core trainer with the Vicarious Trauma Institute and the Collaborative Divorce Institute. She developed the Rapid Advance Process in 1990. It was originally conceived as a process to quickly offer relief to adult survivors of childhood trauma. The process has been effective because it gives the client an option to move out of negative brain circuitry and build new neural pathways to the higher brain. This neural shift results in a better feeling outcome. She created and wrote about the Rapid Advance Process in her doctoral dissertation and with Vicki Carpel Miller, LMFT, further developed the process for treatment of Vicarious Trauma. Ellie is the author of The Bridge to I Am: Rapid Advance PsychotherapyŠ2007 and co-author with Vicki of Second Hand Shock and the Just Stop Series. She authors a blog at docellie.com. She conducts all phases of psychotherapy. Ellie specializes in working with families in transition. She also serves as a Trainer, Divorce Coach, Child Specialist and/or Team Manager in the process of Collaborative Divorce, whereby a team of professionals help a couple move through divorce respectfully, without litigating. Ellie presents for numerous conferences and conventions. She appears on television as an expert for supporting families dealing with crisis. She hosted her own call-in radio show in Phoenix and served as Self-Help Editor for a nationally syndicated trade magazine. She runs several ongoing groups called the Encouragers, where people meet to offer each other peace, support and acceptance. Ellie is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and Collaborative Divorce Professionals of Arizona. She is married with children and grandchildren. Her office is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. To reach Ellie, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
