Helen is General Counsel of the Oregon State Bar where, among other things, she regularly answers ethics questions from lawyers and writes ethics columns for the Oregon State Bar Bulletin. She started working at the Oregon State Bar in December 2003 in the Client Assistance Office where she screened complaints against lawyers. While at the bar, she has done dozens of presentations on lawyers’ child abuse reporting obligations. Prior to the Oregon State Bar, she worked in private practice in Oregon and at legal aid on the Navajo and Hopi Reservations in Arizona. She received her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, in 1991 and her B.A. from Amherst College in 1987. She was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 1991 (currently inactive) and the Oregon State Bar in 1997.
