Kathy DiLorenzo is Vice President of National Reporter Relations for VITAC and LegaLink, divisions of Merrill Legal Solutions. Kathy began her reporting career in 1981 as a freelance reporter. After five years, she entered the field of realtime broadcast captioning. She was an active captioner from 1986 to 2001. She also co-authored “Realtime Captioning…The VITAC Way.”Kathy has served the National Court Reporters Association in many capacities since 1992, including the Theory Text Task Force and the Realtime Certification Committee. She was a member of the 2000 and 2004 NCRA Strategic Planning Task Forces, several Presidential Planning Committees, Chair of the Task Force on Reporter Professionalism, and a member of the Reporter Education Commission.Kathy has presented numerous seminars and workshops on such topics as realtime writing, closed captioning and reporter professionalism for many state court reporting associations, as well as the National Court Reporters Association. In 2002, the Community College of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, recognized Kathy’s educational contributions by naming its state-of-the-art captioning lab in her honor, the DiLorenzo/Weber Captioning Lab.Kathy was elected to the NCRA Board of Directors in 2002. She is currently serving as President-Elect of NCRA. Kathy has two children, 18-year-old Christopher, who attends Penn State University majoring in architectural engineering; and 14-year-old Lisa, who attends middle school. |
