Hon. Shelley Robins New

Presently assigned to the Criminal Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Judge Robins New previously sat as Judge for the Family Court, Civil Division where she heard custody, divorce, abuse and family law cases. From 1995-1998, Judge Robins New served as President for The Center for Legal Education, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting innovative legal programs. She also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office (1976 – 1995), where she tried more than 100 jury trials as a Senior Trial Assistant in the Homicide Unit. A member of various professional associations including: the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, the National Association for Women Judges, the Albert Einstein Society and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, Judge Robins New has also published numerous articles and lectured, both nationally and internationally, on various topics related to the justice system and courtroom practice. Judge Robins New received her B.A. from New College of Hofstra University, her M.G.A. from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and her J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
