JAMIE D. PEDERSEN has represented the 43rd District (central Seattle) in the state legislature since 2006. He chairs the House Judiciary Committee. Jamie helped to develop and co-sponsored the 2007 domestic partner legislation, was the prime sponsor of the 2008 domestic partnership expansion act, and was the House prime sponsor of the 2009 domestic partner legislation. Jamie has practiced as a business lawyer at K&L Gates LLP in Seattle since 1995. After graduating from Yale Law School in 1994, he clerked for Judge Stephen F. Williams on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Jamie served for seven years on the national board of Lambda Legal, including two as Board co-chair, and currently chairs Lambda Legal’s National Leadership Council. Jamie was the lead volunteer lawyer for Lambda Legal in Andersen v. King County, the case challenging Washington’s exclusion of same-sex couples from civil marriage.
