Judge Savitt has been on the Bench in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas since 1974, attaining Senior Judge status in 1998. During his service, Judge Savitt has presided over 800 homicide cases. From 1976 until 1983 he served as Court Administrator and from 1968 through 1973, Judge Savitt was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1968 through 1973. Prior to his career in public service, Judge Savitt was a founding member of the law firm of Walsh & Savitt. Author of Pennsylvania Grand Jury Practice and Procedure, Judge Savitt also was a lecturer of law at Temple University School of Law from 1980-1992. Judge Savitt received his B.A. from Rutgers University and his LLB from University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
