Hon. Kathryn S. Lewis

Judge Lewis has been a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County from 1988 to the present. She served as the Administrative Judge of the Orphans’ Court Division from 1992 until 1996. During her tenure Judge Lewis has been assigned to hear cases involving probate, trusts, guardianships, criminal, juvenile delinquency and dependent children. Judge Lewis is an adjunct professor at Villanova Law School and has lectured at the National Judicial College on Contemporary Issues in Probate and for the National Institute of Correction on Judicial Perspective in Sentencing. Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Lewis served as First Deputy City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia, counsel to the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission and staff counsel to the Philadelphia Council for Community Advancement. She chairs the Orphans’ Court Section of the State Conference of Trial Judges, co-chairs the Juvenile Justice Alliance of Philadelphia and is actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations. Judge Lewis received a B.A from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
