Hon. Jacalyn A. Colburn
NH Superior Court, Associate Justice

Hon. Jacalyn A. Colburn was appointed to the NH Superior Court bench in 2009 and presides in Hillsborough County - Southern District. She earned her B.S. from the University of New Hampshire in 1982 and her J.D. from UNH School of Law in 1996. Prior to her judicial appointment, she was the director of legal services at New Hampshire Public Defender, supervising over 100 attorneys in 10 trial offices, as well as representing indigent clients in criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. In addition to her judicial duties, Judge Colburn is a trustee at UNH School of Law, is the chair of its Long-Range Planning Committee, and coaches the school’s advanced trial team at the National Trial Competition each spring. In 2010 she was appointed as co-chair of NH’s Russian-American Rule of Law Consortium by the NH Supreme Court. Judge Colburn is a former member of the NHBA’s Committee on Professionalism and the Board of Governor’s Task Force on Public Sector and Public Interest Law. She is a frequent contributor to New Hampshire Bar Association continuing legal education programs. In 2007 Judge Colburn was named Merrimack County Lawyer of the Year. In recognition of her contributions to the betterment of NH citizens through the administration of justice and the legal profession, she was a recipient of the 2009 Frank Rowe Kenison Award from the NH Bar Foundation. 11/12 TL
