After graduating from Suffolk Law School in 1982, Marc DeSisto began the practice of law as a Special Assistant Attorney General for Rhode Island in the criminal division. In that capacity he tried major felony cases including murder, sexual assault and robbery for a three year period. After leaving the Attorney Generalís Department in 1985, he started in a civil practice joining a midsized firm and leaving that firm to go on his own in 1994. Since beginning his civil practice in 1985 to todayís date he has represented approximately 33 municipalities. A large part of his practice entails defending police departments and police officers from claims of civil liability. He is currently special counsel to the Commission on Judicial Tenure and Discipline which investigates complaints against members of the Rhode Island Judiciary. He has also been appointed as special counsel in the Federal Court to investigate a breach of the Courtís order in a particular case concerning corruption in the City of Providence.
