Leland G. Ripley

Leland G. Ripley has been a lawyer since 1975. From 1977 until 1994 he worked for the Washington State Bar Association. From 1987 to 1994 he was Chief Disciplinary Counsel from responsible for the administration of the Washington lawyer discipline system. He served on the WSBA’s Task Force Discipline 2000 which rewrote the Washington lawyer discipline procedural rules. He served on the WSBA’s Special Committee for the Evaluation of the Rules of Professional Conduct, “Ethics 2003.” This Committee reviewed the amended ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct in order to make recommendations about adopting some version of the MRPC to the Board of Governors. He chaired the Confidentiality SubCourt which considered ABA Model Rule 1.6 and related rules. The Supreme Court Adopted the RPC effective September 1, 2006.Mr. Ripley’s practice emphasizes all aspects of legal ethics and professional responsibility including disciplinary and malpractice defense and expert testimony.[November 2009]
