Mr. Raphael is a retired principal in the Pittsburgh firm of Raphael, Ramsden & Behers, P.C. He was the author of the PBI/PBA “Annual Survey of Family Law in Pennsylvania” from 1975 to 1995, and has written numerous other family law articles. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a past president of the Joint Family Law Council of Pennsylvania. He is a past president of the Allegheny County Bar Association and is a member of the Pennsylvania and American bar associations, where he has served on their family law sections and chaired various committees. A former vice president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Mr. Raphael was an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and was a member of the Domestic Relations Rules Committee of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He has served on the faculties of many Pennsylvania Bar Institute family law and trial practice programs, and is a past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He is a co-author of Premarital Agreements in Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Family Law Discovery Forms. He received his B.A. in 1948 from the University of Pittsburgh, and his LL.B. in 1950 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Mr. Raphael had been included in all editions of the Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of family law until his retirement, and was named by Philadelphia magazine as a Super Lawyer in the area of family law, also being named as one of Allegheny County’s top 50 lawyers.
