Peter J. Detroy, III, Esquire Norman Hanson & DeTroy LLC, Portland Peter J. DeTroy III is a member of the Portland firm of Norman, Hanson & DeTroy, LLC. He graduated with honors from Bowdoin College. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law, where he was the Notes Editor of the Maine Law Review. He is currently a member of the Cumberland County Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association, Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Maine Trial Lawyers Association and American College of Trial Lawyers. He is licensed to practice in all state courts in Maine, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, the First Circuit and the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. His major areas of practice are general civil litigation, criminal defense, professional liability, and professional insurance matters. In recent years, he has held membership on Advisory Committees for the Code of Professional Responsibility and the Maine Rules of Evidence, held a Co-Chair position with the Commission on Gender, Justice and the Courts, was the Chairman of the State Appeal’s Board and the Falmouth School Board and was the Maine State Chair for the American College of Trial Lawyers.
