Hon. James P. Deeley Workers' Compensation Office of Adjudication Central District, Harrisburg Judge Deeley has been deciding Workers' Compensation cases in Pennsylvania since 1981. He has been responsible for petitions arising in Dauphin, Cumberland, Union, Snyder, Lycoming, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin, Lebanon, Adams, Franklin and Fulton Counties. Recently he was responsible for cases arising in Franklin, Fulton, Lebanon, and Cumberland counties. He is past president of the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Judges Association. He received his B.A. degree in 1968, attained the U.S. Army rank of First Lieutenant while in Vietnam in 1970, and obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburg Law School in 1974. Judge Deeley served as a Social Security Administrative Law Judge in 1990 and returned as a Workers' Compensation Judge in 1991. He is a member of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He helped start and is past chair of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Dauphin County Bar Association. He is a co-author of Fundamentals of Workers' Compensation, a PBI publication. He is a co-author and presenter of Handling the Workers' Comp Case which will be presented in March 2012 by the PBI. Judge Deeley was an Adjunct Professor at the Widener University School of Law teaching a two credit course on Workers' Compensation during the 1990s. He retired in January 2012. |
