Mr. Mulcahy graduated cum laude in 1981 from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a degree in speech communications. He earned his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law after being awarded a full three-year scholarship in 1989. He has been a member of the bar in New York since 1990 and a member of the Pennsylvania bar since 1992. Mr. Mulcahy has about 20 years experience in Bankruptcy and Creditor s Rights matters. He started his career in New York City in the commercial litigation field and was later hired as in-house counsel for a securities and leasing firm in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. He later served as in-house counsel for a major creditors rights organization in Denver, Colorado, as well as Managing Attorney for one of largest consumer credit defense firms in New York State. In Albany, NY, Mr. Mulcahy hosted a consumer oriented weekly radio program called  Getting Out of Debt . The Sunday evening program was a call-in format and featured special guests including industry experts, as well as both national and local politicians. Mr. Mulcahy joined the firm of Phelan Hallinan & Schmieg, LLP in May of 2002 as a Senior Bankruptcy Associate and specialist. By maintaining a strong working relationship with the Judges, Trustees, and attorneys in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, as well as the Northern District of New York, he has demonstrated his talents as an exceptional litigator with a proven ability to resolve complex problems and maintain focus on his clients positions. He has extensive experience in motion, hearing and trial practice with regard to all issues of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies, as well as being highly successful in the defense of secured creditors rights in matters of Objections to Claims and other adversary proceedings. He has also effectively prosecuted the dismissal of bankruptcy filings based upon multiple filings, confirmation and feasibility issues. He also has extensive experience in mortgage foreclosure issues and the processes associated therewith. Mr. Mulcahy serves on faculty panels as a Creditors Rights Specialist for Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Seminars. He was also a member of the Eastern District Model Plan Committee and has been asked by the Senior Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to organize and head a committee for the indoctrination of the new Bankruptcy Legislation into the Court s Local Rules. He has been cited on several occasions by various bankruptcy Judges not only for his commitment to his clients, but also for his commitment to the ethics and standards of the bar.
