The Honorable Karen A. Overstreet, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Washington, Seattle. Judge Overstreet was appointed a United States Bankruptcy Judge effective January 3, 1994, and served as the Chief Judge from June 2005 to December 2010. Judge Overstreet is a member of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society Advisory Panel. She is a Judicial Liaison to Consumer Education & Training Services (CENTS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a variety of resources to our community on matters of money management, consumer credit, and personal finances, and is a frequent speaker in Western Washington high schools for CENTS, providing information to teens about the wise use of credit. She is a member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and Washington Women Lawyers. Judge Overstreet is a former member of the United States Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System and chaired its Subcommittee on Technology and Statistics. Prior to her appointment, Judge Overstreet was a partner at the firm of Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle, specializing in bankruptcy and commercial law. (04/12)
