Richard L. Schnake The Law Office of Neale & Newman, LLP Mr. Richard L. Schnake is a partner in the Springfield law firm of Neale & Newman, L.L.P., emphasizing appellate practice. He has handled some 160 cases in the state and federal appellate courts. In 1990 he received the David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award, and in 2003 he was nominated for appointment to the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District. Mr. Schnake has written and lectured extensively on appellate and civil practice topics and is a regular speaker at seminars sponsored by The Missouri Bar. He is an original member of the Supreme Court Appellate Practice Committee; a former member of the Supreme Court Civil Rules Committee; a vice-chair of The Missouri Bar Civil Practice & Procedure Committee; and a member of the ABA Council of Appellate Lawyers. He is the author of Civil Rules Practice, Rules 85-88, 17A MISSOURI PRACTICE (1999), and is coauthoring a new Volume 17B in the Missouri Practice series covering Rules 89-99. He has also contributed to the MoBar CLE series as the author of Chapter 4, “Settlement Conferences,” MISSOURI APPELLATE PRACTICE (5th ed. 2002 & Supp. 2007). He received his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1979 and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1982. He served as the law clerk to Missouri Supreme Court Judge Warren D. Welliver before entering private practice in 1983. |
