Christopher M. Keating NH Judicial Council, Concord, NH Christopher M. Keating is the executive director of the New Hampshire Judicial Council, a state agency that oversees indigent criminal defense and advocates on behalf of equal justice and legal services for the poor. Chris is the former executive director of the New Hampshire Public Defender, where for almost 12 years he employed over 100 attorneys handling indigent criminal matters and delinquency proceedings in more than 27,000 cases a year. From 1999 to 2000, Chris worked as a staff attorney in Dartmouth College's General Counsel's Office. Before that, he served as a staff attorney and managing attorney with the New Hampshire Public Defender, in the program’s Keene, Littleton, Orford, and Concord offices. Chris earned his B.A. from Dartmouth and his J.D. from the University of Maine. He is a member of the American Council of Chief Defenders. Chris serves on the NHBA’s Committee on Cooperation with the Courts, the Interbranch Criminal and Juvenile Justice Council, the Chief Justice's Task Force on Mental Health and Criminal Justice, the Governor's Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence, the State Prison for Women’s Citizen Advisory Board and the Upper Valley District Health Council. He was the recipient of the NH Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' Champion of Justice Award in 2008 and he received the E. Donald Dufresne Award for Outstanding Professionalism from the NH Bar Association in 2010. 10/12 TL |
