Michael A. Horan, Esq. Acting Chief of the Custody Masters Unit & Divorce Masters Unit Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Family Court, Philadelphia Mr. Horan is the acting chief of the Custody and Divorce Masters Units for Philadelphia Family Court. He is a 1976 graduate of the Temple University School of Law and he received his B.A. from the University of Maine in 1972. Mr. Horan served for 171/2 years as law clerk to Judge Leonard A. Ivanoski in the Philadelphia Family Court. During his last two years as law clerk, he simultaneously served as law clerk to Judge Edward B. Rosenberg. For the past 10 years he has served as the Custody Emergency Master. During his more than 26 years of service in the court system, in addition to his regular duties, Mr. Horan has been appointed as a special master in support, special master in divorce, and bench warrant trial commissioner. He has also served as a consultant, a liaison, and a trainer within the Family Court. In addition, he served on the 1990 Philadelphia Divorce Rules Committee and was a member and served as secretary of the 2001 Philadelphia Domestic Relations Local Rules Committee. He also served on the Family Court Dependency/Domestic Relations Collaboration Committee. Mr. Horan has previously lectured for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and has been a speaker for the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Prior to his employment with the Family Court, Mr. Horan was in private practice for five years, concentrating in family law and bankruptcy. |
