Ms. Doherty is an equity partner in the Norristown law firm of High Swartz LLP, where she serves on the Management Committee. She is chair of the Pennsylvania Review and Certifying Board, appointed by the Pennsylvania Bar Association and serving the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Ms. Doherty was the 20062007 president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has been a fellow since 1986. In 2012, Ms. Doherty received the Lynette Norton award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association Women in the Profession Committee, and was also recognized by the Legal Intelligencer in 2012 as one of their Women of the Year. She was selected as one of the 2009 Women of Distinction presented by the Philadelphia Business Journal. She was also the 2006 recipient of the Margaret Richardson Award from the Montgomery Bar Association. Ms. Doherty serves on the Advisory Committee on Domestic Relations Law for the Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission, chairing the Alimony Committee, and was on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute from 1992 to 1998. She is a frequent lecturer and author in the field of family law, and has served as course planner for programs sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and Montgomery Bar Association. Ms. Doherty was the 19992000 chair of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association; former co-chair of the Family Law Committee of the Montgomery Bar Association; former chair of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association; and a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. She received her B.A. from the University of Delaware and her J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law. Ms. Doherty participates in community activities, teaching at Upper Dublin High School for the American Bar Association Family Law Section Partners Curriculum for 15 years, and for 25 years she has served on the board of UNITE, a nonprofit that provides support to bereaved parents. Ms. Doherty also provided pre-marriage counseling for 30 years.
