Michael L. Viola, Esq. Shainberg & Viola, Philadelphia Mr. Viola is a partner with the firm of Shainberg & Viola, which specializes in the areas of family law/domestic relations and consumer bankruptcy. He has been active with the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. With the Pennsylvania Bar Association, he served as a member of the Council of the Family Law Section and was a member of its Executive Committee. He served as a member of the House of Delegates for Zone 1 (Philadelphia). He was the co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Gay and Lesbian Rights Committee from 2005 to 2008. With the Philadelphia Bar Association, Mr. Viola has served as the 1997 chair of the Young Lawyers Division and as the 2001 chair of the Family Law Section. He is also a past co-chair of that association’s Committee of the Legal Rights of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Mr. Viola is a member of the Family Law Advisory Board of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and was a member of the Philadelphia County Domestic Relations Rules Committee. He has also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Justinian Society of Philadelphia as well as the treasurer for the Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia. Mr. Viola is also a master in the Nicholas A. Cipriani Family Law American Inn of Court and serves on its Executive Committee. Mr. Viola has been an instructor in the area of domestic relations for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and for area pro bono organizations including Philadelphia VIP and the Legal Clinic for the Disabled. Mr. Viola received a Juris Doctorate degree from Temple University School of Law in 1989 and a bachelor of arts degree in linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He completed the American Sign Language/English Interpreting program at Community College of Philadelphia in December 2007. |
